Candied Nuts
Is it even the holidays if there aren’t Candied Nuts at your parties and gatherings? I’m going to say no. Definitely not. So I’m here to make your day, yet again! These Candied Nuts are a cleaned up version of the crap you see in stores around the holidays. My spin on Candied Nuts contain only real food ingredients and they are free from refined sugar. As an added bonus, this recipe is vegetarian and vegan as written. As I mentioned a few times now, my mom freaks out every time my vegetarian sister comes to visit. These are a great option to have on the table for her (and everyone else’s) enjoyment.

Not many recipes work great for both appetizers and desserts, but these Candied Nuts are up for the task! They also make great additions to things like soups and salads. Stay tuned, because I’m posting a soup recipe later this week that these Candied Nuts are excellent on as a garnish. And I know they would also be excellent on my Autumn Superfood Salad recipe from a few weeks back. I’ve never been big on nuts as a garnish, but it appears I can make an exception when some sort of sugar is involved. Keepin’ it real healthy over here!

I made these nuts a few weeks ago. Sometimes I post recipes months after I make them for the first time, and sometimes it’s almost immediate. It all just depends on what I feel like posting that day. Anyway, I made these nuts a few weeks back and I still have a few leftover. We had my mom and her boyfriend over for dinner last night and I asked Mike if we should put the rest of the Candied Nuts out on the charcuterie board he was building, mostly just to get rid of them. That little rascal replied: “No way! I’m keeping all those for myself!” He proceeded to take a handful of them for himself and that was that! So my mom and Dave haven’t tried these, but I did make my Bacon Wrapped Dates, Sausage Kale Soup, and Peppermint Brownies. I’m happy to report that they loved everything! It’s such a good feeling when people I like and respect like my recipes. It makes me want to hop back into the kitchen and continue creating recipes so that I can feed the world!
