Air Fried Buffalo Ranch Chicken Wings
I’m thinking of skipping the Super Bowl this year. Although I despise football always, I usually like to watch at least the Super Bowl. First off, the commercials are top-notch, or at least they used to be a few years ago. As a marketing major, it’s always so interesting to me to see in which directions brands try to take things. I actually usually watch the Super Bowl for the commercials exclusively. I do all of my chores when the football is actually being played, and I come back for the commercials. And the half time show. That’s usually pretty good.

Of course, since I don’t have cable TV of my own, I usually go to my mom’s house to watch the big game there. And I bring my laundry, so at least I feel productive while I’m at it. The big draw for me is my mom’s cooking. She always has all the best snack food. Onion dip. Mexican dip. Pulled pork sandwiches. Chow chow. I’m pretty much always on dessert duty, so I bring whatever dessert I’m feeling that day. It’s usually a pretty fun time!

But it’s 2021 now. And not to be all gloom and doom, but nothing is the same. I also used to love watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Not like physically being in Times Square because that sounds like my own personal hell, but I love to watch it on TV. But this year was just weird, and I’m sure the Super Bowl will be more of the same. It’s all Covid all the time. It’s in the programming, it’s in the commercials. It’s just drilled into people’s heads 24/7, it’s no wonder it’s all anybody talks about. It’s all the TV talks about, and people watch a lot of TV, so that’s only natural I guess. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I watched the NYE festivities. I don’t feel like being even more depressed than usual on a Sunday night (the Sunday scaries are bad enough, amiright?!), so I think I’m going to convince Mike to sit at home with me and eat tasty snacks and watch whatever else we want to watch instead. Doesn’t that sound like a much better time? The answer is yes. It won’t be hard to convince him. He could care less about football and every day of my life I thank my lucky stars I found myself a man who doesn’t care about watching other men play with balls on TV.

Anywho, you can bet that some variety of air fryer chicken wings will be on our Super Bowl boycott menu. It’s a given. I’m also thinking we’ll do some bacon wrapped dates, because hello, those are delicious, and maybe some guacamole too. Just because I haven’t had it in a while and I just realized it makes more sense to buy my avocadoes in bulk from Costco because it’s way cheaper that way. Had one for dinner the other night and it was delectable. What else should we add to our Sunday night snack menu? More importantly, what will you be serving at yours? Whether you’re doing the Super Bowl thing this year or not, I still want to know! Also, you should make these wings. Because they’re fabulous, I promise.

Method
- Lay the chicken wings out in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Be sure to leave space around each chicken wing as your air fryer will allow.
- Add all of the spices to a small bowl and stir with a spoon to combine completely. When combined, use the spoon to distribute the spices all over each chicken wing on both sides. Shake the excess off the wings and empty the fallen spices from your air fryer basket if your air fryer easily allows it.
- Air fry at 400° F for 6 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and flip each wing over. Air fry at 400° F for 6 more minutes. Remove from air fryer.
- To make the sauce, add the ghee to a small bowl and microwave until melted. Using a fork, vigorously whisk in the Frank's Red Hot until combined completely. Serve hot with the wings and enjoy!
