White Christmas Cocktail
I’ve made this cocktail recipe three separate times this week and I’m not sick of it yet. For a girl who doesn’t love alcohol, I think that’s saying something. I mean hey, don’t get me wrong, I like a festive beverage in celebration from time to time, but I don’t drink often. Something like this festive holiday drink has my name all over it!

You will probably notice that I used full on dairy in this recipe, and you might be thinking, that’s an odd thing to find on this food blog. And you’d be correct! I love Kerrygold butter so I’m never giving that up, and when I’m doing a round of Whole30 I use quite a bit of ghee. Other than that, I really don’t consume a ton of dairy, mostly because I find it somewhat difficult to find good quality sources of dairy products. I have no real allergy to it, so I do like to consume it from time to time just so that my body doesn’t get allergic to something on purpose. That doesn’t make sense to me, so it’s not something I like to do. When I do choose to consume dairy, I make sure to buy organic. I found a good organic half and half in the grocery store, so I picked some up and whipped up this festive little treat!

Naming cocktail recipes is WEIRD. Naming any recipe ever is always weird, but cocktails? You really need to level up to decide on a good name. I’m not saying that “White Christmas Cocktail” is a good name, but it’s certainly A name. It took me days and days to come up with a name for this cocktail, and then “White Christmas” ended up being the best I could do. Creativity is alive and well in the kitchen but unfortunately not at my fingertips and brain when I sit down to type out these recipes. Feel free to call it whatever you want after you make it and try it.

Does Christmas look any different for you this year, if you celebrate? I celebrate Christmas and it certainly looks a lot different for me. Usually there’s a small crowd over at my mom’s house, but this year it will just be me, Mike, my mom, and her boyfriend Dave just like it was at Thanksgiving. I was over at my mom’s earlier this week and we were remarking how calm, quiet, and relaxing Thanksgiving was, just having the four of us there. We are very much looking forward to the same thing, but the Christmas edition. The cookies have been baked, the Christmas Eve lasagna has been assembled, the champagne is in the fridge chilling. We are set and ready to have ourselves another relaxing holiday, and I can’t wait!

I hope you have a lovely Christmas, if you celebrate! If you’re a procrastinator and you still have a pile of gifts to wrap, make yourself this cocktail before you begin. It will make the whole process a lot more enjoyable. Promise.

- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Pour all of the cocktail ingredients over the ice and set aside.
- Pour the maple syrup onto a small plate. Pour the maple sugar and a pinch of cinnamon onto another small plate and whisk with a fork to combine. Dip one rocks glass into the maple syrup. Shake off the excess. Then dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture, again shaking off the excess. Repeat with the other glass. Fill each glass 3/4 full with ice cubes.
- Shake the ingredients in the cocktail shaker for a minute or so until combined completely and frothy. Distribute evenly among the two rocks glasses. Place a cinnamon stick in each glass as a stirrer. Serve immediately and enjoy!
