Preheat oven to 400° F and line a medium sheet pan with parchment paper.
Season chicken breasts to taste with sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, and garlic powder.
Add 1 tbsp avocado oil to a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet and sear 2-3 minutes per side. Use tongs to transfer the chicken breasts to the sheet pan.
Bake at 400° F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven. Baste with a few teaspoons of BBQ sauce on both sides.
Return to the oven to bake for 5 more minutes. Remove to baste on both sides. Return to the oven to bake for 5 more minutes. Remove from oven and use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The temperature will read 165° F when the chicken is done. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve hot with your choice of sides and enjoy!
